Blood Wedding

October 2020- June 2021

'Blood Wedding'

‘Blood Wedding’ was the script we based our 2nd Year Costume project on. I created 3 designs: one for Leonardo Felix, The Moon, and The Weaver. I began the designing process by sketching, and then developing those ideas on Photoshop and adding fabric ideas and colour palettes to each design. Because of the working class, farming aesthetic I was aiming for, I researched the meaning behind different types of flowers, and matched these with the different characters. Leonardo Felix had forget-me-nots to represent 'True Love, Fidelity, and Deep Compassion'.

I then created the wool jacket and waistcoat from my design for Leonardo from scratch, and drafted the patterns for them both. Making both of the pieces involved lots of new techniques to get to grips with, including new hand stitching techniques, using horse-hair canvas, attaching a lining, and developed my embroidery skills.
